Branson, Missouri REVIEW

I guess it is appropriate since I just got back from a family vacation to discuss it.

My family (husband and 3 children) buddied up with my sister and brother-in-law, neice and nephew just spent 4 days in Branson, MO, in their beautiful timeshare.  It was a 2 bedroom, living area, dining area, screened in porch, the works.  We of course brought some food to cook in the full kitchen instead of wasting so much money eating out, which saved a lot of money.  Here is a list of things that we did, and my opinions.

Let me start off by saying, we of course didn't do everything that is offered, but we did a good portion.  I would suggest to search for deals online for tickets to these places before going down there, because some stuff is just completely expensive.  I only pre-ordered tickets for one attraction which saved $50 for a family of 4.  I didn't exactly know what we wanted to so that's as far as I went.

But when you get down to Branson........ check out those souvenier shops, gas stations, attractions for the coupon books !  Some is not much, but it will end up saving you some!

The Titanic Museum  http://www.titanicbranson.com/
$$$  This one was a bit pricey.  If you have children that don't really get the whole Titanic thing, I suggest you don't go to this one.  It is a rather boring museum for children.
However, I enjoyed it, actually cried when reading the section about the kids who perished in 3rd class.  Very informational, and exciting to know that the artifacts were actually mostly original.  $18.82/adult $9.99/child.  I believe if you order these tickets online you can get money off if you pair up with a show.

Ride the Ducks http://www.ridetheducks.com/
$$  However I don't know the actual price, I'm sure you can find it on the website, but I found a discount website for this attraction because I knew we definately were going to do it and got it for $13.95/each.  I am pretty sure it was $25/adult and $14/child.  This was actually very entertaining, even for the kids.  Here you board a replica WWII DUKW Vehicle.  This peice of machinery drives on land and drives in water, all with the switch of a button.  I'm sure it's more complicated than that, but you get what I'm saying.  You get complimentary "quackers" and go for a tour of Branson, with a very entertaining driver, who does his little speal (sp?) and is amazingly funny.  Once in the water, the driver allows the children on the ride actually sit in the Captains chair and steer for about 30 seconds - a minute or so.  Don't go do your hair for this ride, because you get wet and man it is windy!

The Track http://www.bransontracks.com/
$$$  The cost is $9.50/person for 1 ride. Here is a really cool race track.  You actually have to be tall to ride the big 4 or 5 level track, but the kids can ride in the ground track.  You also have water bumper boats and a mini amusement park for the kiddies next door.  Didn't stay here too long, we were all hungry and tired.  In the coupon books there were coupons for buy 3 rides, get one free.

The Lost Treasure Golf Park http://www.losttreasuregolf.com/
$$ This costs $8.50/person and you mini putt putt for 18 holes on this huge golf course.  Not to spectacular, it's a mini putt putt course, you've seen one, you've pretty much seen them all.  In the coupon books there was coupons for $1 off each person.

Hollywood Wax Museum  http://www.hollywoodwaxmuseum.com/
Castle of Chaos  http://www.castleofchaosbranson.com/
Hannah's Maze of Mirrors
$$ I combine these because in the coupons books I found a coupon for all 3 attractions for $24.95/adult and $14.95/child.  All three of these attractions are in the same building.  First we went to the Hollywood Wax Museum, where you can pose with various actors, characters made of wax.  And man do they all look real !  The kids really enjoyed posing next to these characters, and I myself, was pretty impressed with Hugh Hefner and you got to lay on the bed with the bunny ears!

Next we headed over to Hannah's Maze of Mirrors.  This is very short, unless you get lost inside.  My 1 year old was just fascinated and just looking at herself, then the next thing you know, she was RUNNING down what looked like a hallway (which was only an optical illusion) and BAM she smacked the mirror head on and bounced off !  So please hold on to your little ones.

Next we went into Caste of Chaos.  Here is where you are in a dark room with 3D glasses participating in a 5D experience.  You get to interact with the little story going on and shoot at things coming at you, the whole section of seats moves, spins, air blows, smoke flows, water gets sprayed and you really think that you are going to get hit in the face with things.  The guns you are shooting with actually keep individual scores as you shoot things and at the end you are ranked.  I didn't do so well, but my husband got 1st place.  The kids absolutely LOVED this one.

Starvin Marvin's
$ Very Cheap Buffett, but check out the name.  Starvin Marvin's....  there is a reason for that I'm sure.  I know I left hungry.  blah.

Montana Mike's Steakhouse
$$ Reasonably priced, basic steakhouse food.  But watch out - here the waitresses claim that there is a 4 drink rule that is a "State Wide Rule" and that is all you get, no more.  We didn't even argue, because she got into a speal about how this one lady's husband was at some hotel screwing one of her waitresses, while whoever was serving his wife (yes I said wife) at this Steakhouse drove home and wrecked her car.  She was telling the whole restaurant, soooooooo  we just headed across the street to Ruby Tuesdays and finished our night there.

That's pretty much it.  Completely a tourist scene.  If you are into Country and Western, I suggest going to some shows, but I'm not old enough to have the desire to go to any yet, but feel free.  I just can't review.  Just a little tip, the people down there are slow and I mean slow.  They ain't used to the fast pace city life.  All in all it was a very homely place and I would suggest a trip down there, very kid friendly.
